Life in the Khuren

Update:09/04/2009

Life in a Khuren is peaceful every day. People here are well known for the character that constant expeditions are made to the outskirts of the territory to track game or to scout for anything that might threaten the tribe. Many animals are caught for special uses, in addition to the steppe horses, birds and wolfs caught are used for scouting and hunting after being tamed. Usually young animals are caught and those animals living in the wild in comparison to animals born in captivity are believed to have strong souls and a deeper connection to Akana, the earth-Mother. Although the horses on the steppe are considerably smaller than many of their relatives they are stronger with great stamina. These reliable animals take a significant role in the Khuren and constitute the back bone of the Khurite tribes. There is a popular saying that a true Khurite learns how to ride before learning how to walk. Both Men and woman are taught to fight equally well from the saddle as on foot, and a selection of pole arms are used in close combat while the asymmetrical Khurite horse bow is used for archery.
