Wikipedia Telefonica and sign an agreement

Telefonica Foundation and Wikipedia on Monday signed an agreement for the exchange of educational content in Spanish. Both institutions focus their efforts through the portal EducaRed Telefonica Foundation to enrich and contribute to a greater number of knowledge in Spanish. The portal incorporating various Wikipedia projects to her resume teaching as a tool for teaching.

The agreement also provides for the creation of specific open source tools that facilitate access to education through both platforms, particularly in some regions where the Fundacion Telefonica Latin America has been developing for years its programs of social action and education.

Currently, Wikipedia has over 15 million articles from authors in some 256 different languages and is visited by about 370 million Internet users each month, which makes it the fifth most visited website in the world.

The agreement between Telefonica Foundation and Wikipedia is signed on Monday 5 July at Gran Via, with the assistance of the executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation and executive vice president of Fundacion Telefonica Javier Nadal.
